Ansorg boosts sales with seductive fitting room lighting

Shoppers in Munich’s pulsating city centre can enjoy a brand new fitting room concept at a store close to tradition-steeped Marienplatz plaza. Lingerie specialist, Intimissimi, has introduced an innovative new fitting room concept by lighting expert Ansorg to create a personal stage for its customers at the Kaufinger Straße store. The 5 m2 ‘Youzon’ fitting room is a tranquil and intimate space where luxury fashion aficionados can try on Intimissimi garments.

Ansorg has integrated various lighting elements in the lingerie retailer’s tastefully designed retreat. Soft light is emitted from behind the main mirror to emphasise garment fit and fabric in close-up. Harmonious indirect lighting via reflectors adds dimension to flat structures and provides brilliance without dazzle. The light shower from above immerses Youzon in flattering and uncompromisingly clear basic light. A backlight behind the torso emphasises the contours and adds shine to the hair. All the lights have infinitely adjustable white light and deliver excellent colour rendering. And a light aura opposite the main mirror gives the fitting room user a radiant mirror reflection.

Inside the fitting room the customer uses a compact touch panel to create the perfect lighting mood for lingerie, swimwear, nightwear and sportswear. Filippo Mercanti, the architect responsible for interior design at the Intimissimi stores, explained this dedication to detail: “We want the high standards that we aspire to in the production of our collection to be reflected in our stores. In other words, the quality of our apparel and the quality of the shopping experience in the store have to complement each other.”

Unlike the traditional downlights, this flexible lighting solution at the decision point – the fitting room – is a key sales argument. This has been confirmed by the positive feedback from customers.
